Simply put, staying at “The Sailfish Cottage” is a fun!  This is the only oceanfront home we manage that you don’t have to go up and down a flight of steps.  All the common living areas, bedrooms and bathrooms are all on the ground floor.  Getting to the beach is almost as easy.  We have pavers from the large screened porch to the seawall where there are only about 5 easy steps down to the beach. Great location, it’s the best of all worlds, first a very private beach, less than 7 minutes from 3 very good restaurants and only about 15 minutes to “Castillo de San Marcos”, known to the locals as, “The Old Fort”.  The fort was built approximately 325 years ago and is the center of the St Augustine activities.  St Augustine has become known for its vast array of culinary delights.  A few examples are the upscale and famous, “The Columbia” established in 1905 with authentic Spanish dishes and Costa Brave with Mediterranean food If you prefer not to go “upscale”, test out some local favorites, “Cap’s” and “Aunt Kates” are about a 6 minute drive or 15 minutes away are “The Ice Plant” “Cellar 6” and many more. The beach is wide with natural dunes, and it has reliable waves and great swimming. When you're not on the beach, there are lots of good restaurants around. At the pier, there's a farmers and crafts market on Wednesdays and other outdoor events. You can go to the historic downtown area and see the old fort or take a boat cruise from the marina. Or you can rent your own boat and go fishing or cruising on the Intracoastal Waterway. There's a well-run Alligator Farm. And there are plenty of golf courses around.
